Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Tushar, and I built Roomy.
My Mac hit 85% full, and ~/Library alone was 96 GB. Every disk tool I tried showed me a giant block called "Library" and stopped there. I wanted the next answer: what is this folder, and can I delete it?
So Roomy scans once (606,727 files in 17 seconds on my Mac), then explains every big folder in plain words:
→ what it is and which app it belongs to
→ what happens if you delete it, and whether it comes back on its own
→ a Safe / Review / Keep label, and the right command when deleting by hand is wrong (`docker system prune`, not deleting Docker's disk)
It only moves things to the Trash, has no network code at all, and it's free and MIT licensed. And yes, it looks like a 1985 space console, because disk cleanup shouldn't feel like doing taxes.
All the explanations live in one open rules file. If you know what a mystery folder on your Mac is, it's one entry, and everyone gets the answer.
One honest note: it isn't notarized yet, so the first launch needs "Open Anyway" in Privacy & Security, or you can build it from source.
I'd love to hear which folder surprised you most. 🙏

Who hunted Roomy?
Roomy was hunted by Tushar karkera. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
