My app is like Tinder but for roommates. All features are free in the app: filters, messaging, and seeing who liked your profile. You have the choice of registering as "Looking for a Place", "Home/Apartment Owner", or "Home/Apartment Dweller". You're also able to select a specific state you'd like to move to, or a state that you already live in. You will only see users in your selected state. If you're in college, or nearby a college, you can list that too and find students to move in with.
Hello, I hope you all are doing well! This is my first app that I created by myself using Flutter. The inspiration to create this app came from college students who struggled to find roommates (myself included), and my sister who's graduating from high school and looking for a roommate for college. I know most colleges have their roommate matching system, but those systems are slow, and they take time to create a match, which is another reason why I created this.
The app took around 9 months for me to complete. I had a somewhat consistent plan, but some parts of the plan changed throughout development. I started coding from scratch while using AI to guide me whenever I needed to learn a new concept. I did this so that I can get a better understanding of app development and the Flutter framework. Around month 7, I decided to use Claude Code to help me implement features faster because I felt that I was falling behind in the use of AI in software development.
A little bit about myself: I graduated in May of last year at SUNY New Paltz. I'm currently looking for a full-time job at the moment, but in the meantime, I'm creating apps. My dream is to make a living off mobile development and build ethical products that may help society.
I'm looking to improve my skills and satisfy my users, so please let me know what you guys think about my app, and what I can improve on. Any feedback is appreciated!
