Hi Product Hunt! Johan here - the solo founder behind RoomDesign AI.
**The Inspiration:**
I was helping a friend redesign her apartment. She had a $2,000 budget but spent 40+ hours scrolling Pinterest, visiting furniture stores, and still felt lost. I realized: AI can analyze a room in seconds, but no one's built a tool that connects vision AI to actual design suggestions + shopping. That's when I started building.
**What I'm Trying to Build:**
Not just another design tool. I want to help people be more involved in the interior design. Right now, hiring a designer costs $5-10K. Most people just live with rooms they don't love because it feels expensive and intimidating. My goal: Make professional-quality design suggestions accessible to anyone with a phone camera and a budget.
Long-term vision: Interior design marketplace where AI suggests designs, connects users to products they can actually buy, and earns affiliate commissions. But we're validating step by step.
**How My Process Evolved:**
- **Week 1:** Built this MVP in Antigravity IDE (AI agents writing code). Realized: speed matters more than perfection.
- **Week 2:** Tested with 20 beta users. Lesson: Mock data is enough to validate if people WANT to click products. They do.
- **Week 3:** Deployed to Vercel. Planning: Next, integrate Claude Vision API for real room analysis (currently using mock designs).
**Key learning:** I almost waited to launch until the room analysis was "perfect." Wrong. Launch with 80% product, 100% listening to users. Their feedback shaped what to build next.
