roaster0 analyzes your GitHub repos, commit habits, and coding choices — or any name, bio, link, or photo you feed it — to deliver a savage, hyper-specific AI roast using Gemini. Then it redeems you with The Toast: one sincere compliment, earned from your real data.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
Here's the honest origin story: my friends roast me constantly, and I never have a comeback ready in time. The perfect line always shows up in the shower, ten minutes too late. So instead of getting better at trash talk, I did what any developer would do — I outsourced my revenge to an AI.
Turns out the best target practice isn't people, it's GitHub profiles. Your GitHub is basically a diary you didn't know you were writing: the eleven repos with no description, the `final-v2-FINAL` commit, the side project you lived and breathed for three weeks before abandoning it. So I built roaster0 to read that diary out loud — and roast you for it.
**The problem I was actually solving:** most "AI roast" tools online just generate generic insults from a name. I wanted every single line to trace back to something *real* — an actual repo name, an actual commit pattern, an actual bio you wrote. If it can't be true, it doesn't make the cut.
**How the approach evolved:**
- Started as GitHub-only, but quickly realized plenty of people don't have (or want to share) a GitHub — so I added **Roast Anything**, which uses Gemini's multimodal input to roast a name, bio, links, or photos instead.
- The first version was roast-only, and it felt mean without a point. Adding **The Toast** — one sincere, earned compliment at the end, pulled from the same real data — changed the whole feel of the product. Now it's not just an insult generator, it's an arc.
- Structured JSON output from Gemini (instead of parsing freeform text) was the single biggest reliability fix — it's what let me guarantee a consistent roast + toast shape every single time instead of occasionally breaking.
**What's next:** I'm actively working on tightening the safety guardrails around Roast Anything (especially anything involving real people's photos), and thinking about a "roast battle" mode where two profiles get compared head-to-head.
Would genuinely love to hear what you'd want roasted — try it on your own GitHub first, that's always the funniest test. 🔥

Would love to see a "roast history" page so you can revisit old burns and see if your habits actually changed over time. Could even let you share a card of your best roast with friends.
Honestly the redemption arc built into the roast is such a clever touch, like the data-driven compliment at the end actually feels earned instead of tacked on. Also love that it pulls from real commit history rather than just vibes.
would love a way to save or share roasts, right now i just get the output and lose it. maybe a sharable card or a public profile link that shows your toast vs roast ratio over time
Love the roast-then-toast twist, the Gemini bit makes it feel way more personal than the usual "git blame yourself" tools. One thing that would make me share it more: a way to save the roasts as shareable image cards, since right now I'd just screenshot a wall of text. Bonus if it could auto-generate a little mock profile page with the worst line as the headline.
