RIP MY BUILD is a side project cemetery for honest public postmortems. Publish a permanent obituary with the original link, cause of death, lesson learned, and whatever you’re building next. Every memorial gets a shareable page, visitor roses, permanent plot adornments, and a weekly honors leaderboard. It turns the useful truth at the end of a project into closure, a launch asset, and a path to the founder’s next chapter. $12 per obituary; no account needed to browse.

My lesson, from a project that is still alive but came close: an app that runs on other people's content is not really launched until the room already has voices in it. I shipped a good empty room and then wondered why nobody stayed. Does the $12 buy a permanent plot, or does it renew?

the lesson that stuck with me: I kept polishing the product before ever putting up a landing page. if I'd shipped a one-page waitlist in week one instead of week twelve, I would've known within days whether anyone actually cared, instead of finding out months later after building the whole thing. love the concept here, honest postmortems are way more useful to other builders than the highlight-reel launch posts we usually see.

Mine is not buried yet, but today taught me that shipping and being seen are two different problems. We went live today too. Can an obituary be edited if the thing comes back?

This is outstanding. Make it open source so some propeller head, like me, can make an MCP that lets the bots get prompted with any zombies/dead ones out there. I hope this takes off.

three dead ones here. agency, then voice ai, then a procurement tool, in that order, before the thing that actually worked. the one that still bothers me is that our first ever paying customer signed, paid, and then never logged in. not once. at the time i read that as a win because the money had arrived. it took me embarrassingly long to notice that a signature and a payment can both happen without anyone actually wanting the thing. so if i wrote the obituary it would say we kept going because the invoice cleared, and nobody checked whether anyone had opened it.

Heheh have a lot of these projects man! Love the idea and I will try it out of course. Wish you all the best here!

I've decided to make obituaries FREE, permanently, to encourage more people to share!
