Aging at home has a visibility problem. Small changes in health and routine can go unnoticed for weeks or months, until the first obvious sign is something serious. Rhem is a tabletop robot that helps families see those changes earlier, while giving parents the everyday support they need to stay independent longer. Rhem was designed first for aging parents, but anyone can use it as an extra set of eyes and everyday help at home.
Hey Product Hunt! I’m Jacob, cofounder and CEO of Rhem Labs. I’m building Rhem with my dad, Huey.
Our family spent nearly two decades caring for my grandma and auntie. Before my grandma’s stroke, she was sleeping badly and talking less. We each saw pieces, but nobody saw the whole picture.
A brain tumor left my auntie with severely limited mobility. She was still herself, but making a call or ordering something meant waiting for someone else. Much of what she needed didn’t require physical help, just someone who could act for her.
We’re building the robot we wish our family had.
Rhem is a tabletop health assistant robot that brings together everyday assistance, wellness check-ins, and family connection. Your parent just talks to it.
Our goal isn’t to replace family. It’s to give parents more independence and let their children spend more time being family instead of managing their lives.
What do you wish you’d had while caring for a loved one?
the framing is "for your parents" but the person who actually lives with the device every day is the parent, not the adult child who bought it. that's a real tension worth being upfront about - is the data flow something the parent can see and control (what gets shared with the kids, how often, in what detail), or is it set up by default as a dashboard the family checks on them through. "aging at home has a visibility problem" is true, but visibility for the family is also just surveillance from the other end of it, and whether people accept that depends entirely on who holds the controls
Congrats on the launch! Does this integrate across other smart home features? For example, could you get alerts on the state of the home (lights left on, door unlocked, temperature, etc)?
I'm very into this idea. Does there always need to be a signal or do some of the functions work locally? I'm thinking about the potential "tech debugging" that might occur where the catch up call becomes tech support lol.
Love that it can also solve for lonliness. Can it play games to help cognitive function as well?
Congrats on the launch y'all

Rhem Labs was hunted by Garry Tan. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
