Retrograde is more than a filter app. It brings the full vintage-camera experience into one fast, personal workflow: choose a look, see it live, capture the moment, and keep it private. What makes it stand out: - Live photo and video cameras with flash, film grain, warm tones, and distinctive character. - Photomaton/photobooth strips and instant formats that create keepsakes, not just single images. - Pose Match for recreating reference poses. - Editing for imported photos and videos

Retrograde started with a small moment: my wife asked me to take her photo. I found that existing camera apps could create a look, but they didn’t make the moment feel simple or personal. I wanted to open a camera, choose a look, and get back to the people in front of me. That became Retrograde: a vintage camera experience with live photo and video looks, flash, film grain, warm tones, photobooth strips, instant formats, and Pose Match for recreating reference poses. You can also edit photos and videos already in your library, while keeping your media private on your device. While building it, I kept coming back to one rule: creative tools should add character without adding friction. I’d love to hear what you make with Retrograde first.

Who hunted Retrograde?

Retrograde was hunted by Dan Toulet. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
