Retrace helps you remember what you were doing in a codebase. It automatically records your coding activity locally and turns it into a visual timeline, so you can look back at previous context and jump back into your work. No account, no manual logging, and no cloud history.

Top comment

Hey everyone 👋 I built Retrace after repeatedly losing track of what I was doing while working on larger codebases. I'd jump between files, branches and debugging sessions, come back later, and have that annoying feeling of “wait… what was I doing here?” So I tried building something that simply remembers the workflow for me. Retrace currently keeps that history local and turns it into a visual timeline that I can use to retrace my steps and jump back into previous context. It's still early, so I'm mainly here for feedback. Does this solve a problem you've actually experienced, or am I solving something nobody really cares about? I'd genuinely like to know what you'd change.

Who hunted Retrace?

Retrace was hunted by Aritra De. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
