I built retAIlog (retailog.com) to solve a problem that still feels surprisingly manual in e-commerce: turning supplier catalogs into usable product data.
Many suppliers still send product information as PDFs, spreadsheets, image-heavy catalogs, or documents that were designed for humans rather than online stores. Then, retailers and agencies have to manually extract product names, descriptions, specifications, variants, categories, images, SKUs, and other details before they can upload anything to Shopify, WooCommerce, or another commerce platform.
retAIlog automates that process.
You upload a supplier catalog, and the platform uses our advanced AI to identify products, extract and structure their information, generate SEO-friendly content, organize characteristics and variants, build category hierarchies, process product images, and export the result into an e-commerce-ready format.
One of the biggest lessons while building it was that this is not really an “AI copywriting” problem. The difficult part is reliably transforming messy, inconsistent supplier data into structured product information while preserving relationships between products, variants, specifications, and categories.
So instead of building a collection of independent AI features, I focused on creating an end2end catalog transformation pipeline where each step contributes to a final dataset that can actually be used by a merchant.
retAIlog is still early, and that is one of the main reasons I wanted to launch it here. I’m especially interested in feedback from e-commerce operators, agencies, brands, developers, and anyone who has had to onboard large supplier catalogs manually.
