I'm Tomohiko, a solo indie dev in Japan. I build small, focused iPhone (and sometimes Android) apps - a reversi game with an expanding board, a couple of photo-sorting tools, and now this: a tax calculator.
The reason I'm launching it today: Japan's government is currently weighing whether to temporarily cut the reduced consumption-tax rate on groceries from 8% to 1%, for two years starting April 2027. It's a real, active policy debate - not hypothetical. I wanted to see the actual numbers, so I added a "1%" option to my own tax calculator app within a few days of the news breaking.
