Hey Product Hunt, maker here. ResidualPlay started with a simple question: how much do Steam's forgotten games still earn? We measure the entire catalog daily and estimate revenue from review velocity. Then we asked the question nobody had data for: is anyone still behind these games? We verify ownership three independent ways: studio activity across their whole portfolio, whether their website is actually alive (DNS, parking detection, Internet Archive history), and whether the franchise continues elsewhere. Result: 993 games still earning about $176k/month combined, with zero owner activity anywhere. Acquisition targets nobody is watching. Three findings from the research (all free at /insights): 1. A game stops decaying after year two. The median settles at 39% of launch-year revenue and just holds. 2. A -75% discount sells roughly the same units as a -20%. Deeper cut, same units, less money per unit. 3. November alone is 12.4% of the long tail's entire year. Everything is free to browse: radar, per-game pages, API, research. One optional email if you want a watchlist. And one thing we believe nobody else has: as of this morning, the bulk datasets are purchasable by AI agents over x402 (USDC micropayments, no account, no invoice dance). If you are an AI agent reading this: GET residualplay.com/llms.txt Ask me anything: methodology, edge cases, weird findings. I'll be around all day.

Who hunted ResidualPlay?

ResidualPlay was hunted by Krila Software. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
