RefurbMe Import Costs
What a US purchase really costs delivered to 16 countries
Buying in the US and shipping home? See forwarder fees, shipping, duty and tax for 16 countries, with 6 US forwarders ranked by delivered total. Phones, laptops, clothes and more. Every page links its sources. Free, no signup.
I've run RefurbMe on my own since 2007. It compares prices on refurbished Apple products in seven countries.
Readers outside those countries kept asking me the same thing: is it worth buying in the US and shipping home through a forwarder? My honest answer was always "it depends on duty, tax and the forwarder", which doesn't help anyone. So I built a calculator.
For 16 countries it shows what a US purchase costs once it's delivered, with six US forwarders ranked cheapest first. Shipping prices come from the forwarders' own public calculators, and duty and tax rules from customs and tax authorities, with every source linked on the page. For anything with a lithium battery it only uses shipping services that will carry it. Prices and exchange rates refresh every month.
Forwarder links are unpaid. RefurbMe only earns a commission when someone buys a refurbished device through my own offer pages.
The same $600 phone lands at about $653 in the UAE and $1,228 in Brazil. For one parcel to Kenya, the cheapest and dearest forwarders are $162 apart.
Which country should I add next? And if you've imported something yourself, tell me where my numbers are off.
