RealBonds: Social Map
RealBonds is a interactive social map application.
RealBonds turns "who's nearby" into a real meetup. A live heatmap shows nearby users and hot spots in real time. Discover or host events with a token-based system controlling visibility by distance and duration. Venues level up only from verified on-site visits — reviewing a place requires being there. See friends as a constellation, not a list. Spot someone at your venue and send a friend request with one live, unfiltered photo, no gallery uploads to story. Bot-protected, privacy-first.
Why I built this: On a trip a while back, I realized how hard it actually is to meet people in a new city. Social media was supposed to connect us with the world, but in practice it's become the opposite, especially for women, DMs from strangers turned it into something people close off from rather than open up to. I wanted to bring social media back to what it was originally meant to be: a tool for actually socializing, not avoiding it. On top of that, even organizing something as simple as a house party now often means paying event companies just to get the word out and I think people are tired of social media, but still want to socialize. They just don't have a tool that lets them do it without needing an existing network of mutual friends.
How it evolved: I originally started building a map-based public feed for events. But the more toxic, opinion-driven nature of that format plus the real safety concerns of sharing your location publicly in that kind of environment pushed me to rethink the whole approach. Around the same time, I kept noticing venues with perfect star ratings on review platforms that turned out to be nothing like advertised, which is what led me to build a place-leveling system based on real, on-site visits instead. I also got frustrated with how messy and impersonal friend lists are everywhere, so instead of a list, RealBonds visualizes your friends as a personal constellation.
