Your kid brings home a library book. You want to know if they actually read it. Scan the barcode with ReadHatch, and Claude writes a comprehension quiz for that exact book. Passing quizzes earns points that hatch 10 collectible reading pets. Streaks, weekly goals, and progress dashboards keep kids going and show you what stuck.

Hey Hunters 👋 I'm Mark Clayton. ReadHatch started because my wife is a homeschool mom. One night she said, offhand, "it'd be really neat if we had an app that did Accelerated Reader. You know, the thing they used to have in school where the kid reads a book, takes a little quiz on it, and gets points. We don't really have that as homeschoolers." So the problem was pretty specific: AR is a school license. If your kid's school doesn't run it, you can't buy it as a parent. Even if their school does run it, AR only has quizzes for its own book catalog. Summer reading, library pickups, and anything off the school list are back to "how was it?" / "good." That's the whole conversation. The next weekend I started building. The bet was that AI is finally good enough to generate a real 10-question comprehension quiz on the actual book, not a generic reading-comp template, and scale the difficulty to the kid's age. Pass 7 out of 10, earn points, hatch one of 10 collectible pets. What surprised me during the launch: the wedge isn't "homeschool." It's AR at home. Plenty of the parents using it now have kids in public school where AR exists, but the school's catalog doesn't have quizzes for whatever the kid is actually reading. Would genuinely love feedback, especially on pricing (free for 3 quizzes/month, $4.99/mo Pro), quiz quality on obscure books, and anything else that comes to mind. My kids read more because of it, we did our job. Thanks for taking a look 🥚
