ReadAloud
Speechify but good—podcast-quality voices in your browser
Hi PH 👋
Today, we are making state-of-the-art text-to-speech free for (almost) everyone!
Until now, getting your browser to read to you made you choose: robotic voices, laggy playback, or a $29/month subscription. That pricing made sense when good TTS was expensive to run. It _isn't_ anymore.
Using ReadAloud is a magical experience. It's a pleasure to listen to, and it has already 5x'ed the number of articles I read weekly. We believe an accessibility feature such as ReadAloud should be free to use for most people to make the internet more accessible.
ReadAloud is free forever at speeds of up to 2x, works offline, and is fully private. We charge a simple subscription of $6/month for speeds up to 3.5x and improved models in the new updates.
Would love for you to try and share feedback!
The voices sound way more natural than I expected for a free tool, almost like a real podcast host. Threw a long Reddit thread at it and it handled the formatting without sounding robotic.
The voices really do sound natural, way better than the robotic tts stuff i usually try. Used it on a long article while cooking and it held my attention the whole time, which never happens.
How do you handle longer articles that go beyond typical TTS limits, do they get split or is there a queue system? Also curious if the free daily use has any time caps or just a generous word count.
how does the free daily use work, is there a set number of minutes or articles before it caps out, and what happens after that, paywall or just ads?
Daily free limits are great for getting hooked, but adding a sleep timer and the ability to sync listening position across phone and laptop would make it a real daily companion for me.
