Maker here 👋 I built RandomCam because I missed Omegle — but not the bots.
Omegle shut down in 2023, and every replacement I tried was buried in ads, paywalled, or full of spam. So I spent the last few months building the version I actually wanted: a chat roulette where you're matched with a stranger in under 5 seconds — video or text — with no account, no sign-up, no paywall.
The part I cared about most was moderation:
AI checks text and video in real time
Strict 18+ no-nudity policy
One-tap reporting with real bans behind it
Matching is free too — pick an interest or one of 41 languages and get paired with someone who chose the same (or "any" if you're feeling lucky). There's also a free Android app, and premium only adds optional gender/country filters.
Stack: React + Vite, Node/Express + Socket.io, PostgreSQL + Prisma, Redis, WebRTC, Cloudflare Turnstile for bot defense, and a Capacitor Android build.
