Rainy Skies is an indie iOS weather app designed by a solo developer based on the foundation of the now defunct Dark Sky weather app. Rainy Skies now supports radar and has an Apple Watch app with widgets and complications.
Hey there, Product Hunters! My name is Joel Fischer, and I'm the solo developer of the Rainy Skies weather app for iOS. I'm a professional iOS developer, but I wanted an app to call my own. I've always loved weather apps, and I usually have four or five installed on my phone at any given time—something about the challenge of presenting weather information in a digestible and intuitive manner that speaks to me.
Rainy Skies launched in version 1.0 in October 2023 after nearly a year of nights and weekends of work. Rainy Skies 2.0 is the culmination of another six months of work to support Radar and the Apple Watch. I hope you'll check out the app, it's completely free to use forever, with limitations, and only $5/year for a premium subscription (until May 1, when it will jump to $5.99 for new users).
I hope you check it out and enjoy it using it even half as much as I've enjoyed making it!
I always check multiple weather apps to get accurate information, so this is truly a game-changer for me! Wishing you great success! 🚀
I really like weather app that intuitively displays rain and cloud radar maps. Its UI is also simple and clear.
Congrats on the launch of Rainy Skies 2.0, Joel! 🌧️ I love your passion for weather apps, and it’s amazing to see all the hard work and dedication you’ve poured into this. Adding radar and Apple Watch support is such a great touch! The free-to-use model with an affordable premium upgrade makes it super accessible too. Can’t wait to give it a try—nothing beats a well-designed weather app!
I would like to try it, but unfortunately, it is not available for download on the Japanese App Store. I would greatly appreciate it if you could kindly look into this matter.
Does it require internet connection to work? Congrats on the launch btw! 🎉
