I built Quillote because I wanted a Markdown editor that kept the source visible and still felt like writing a document.
Live is the part I use every day. It styles the file in place. There is no preview pane to sync and no conversion. The trade is deliberate: tables and math wait for Read, and Live turns off above 2 MB. Source is always one key away, and the file is always Markdown.
The other constraint was size. The universal Mac DMG is 5.2 MB. It uses the system webview instead of bundling Chromium, ships no UI or editor fonts, and has a size-tuned Rust release profile. The initial JavaScript is 141 KB gzipped. The iPhone app is 3.4 MB. The Android APK is 7.2 MB.
The beta is free. The Mac build is unsigned for now, so right-click and Open the first time. The Android APK is signed. The iPhone build is App Store-signed and in review; TestFlight is next. Windows and Linux are CI-built and unsigned.
I would like feedback on the Live model, the phone file flow and the size. Where does it break for you?
