QuietScribe records your calls on your Mac and writes the transcript, summary and action points there — transcription and summaries run locally. A private, on-device alternative to cloud meeting notetakers like Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai. Free during the private beta.
I built QuietScribe because every meeting-notes tool I tried either sent a bot into the call or uploaded my audio to someone's cloud. For client and internal calls, that was a non-starter.
QuietScribe runs 100% on your Mac. It notices when you're in a Zoom, Teams, WhatsApp or FaceTime call, records both sides locally, and the moment you leave it transcribes and summarizes everything with on-device AI - Whisper for speech, a local LLM for the summary and action items. Nothing is uploaded and no bot shows up in the participant list. Notes save to Obsidian, Apple Notes or Notion, and you can even ask questions across past meetings - all on your Mac.
It's free during the beta (Apple Silicon, macOS 14.4+). Happy to answer anything - I'd love feedback on the summary quality and which other apps you'd want auto-detected.
