Top comment

Hey Product Hunt! 👋
Current AI coding tools generate impressive demos but somehow struggle with real software.
We knew there had to be a way.
Real software isn't just text; it's a living system of dependencies, historical decisions, and team conventions. An Agent that can't see this structure can't be a true partner.
So we built Qoder differently from the ground up:
● It sees the whole picture:
Qoder combines vector search with a local code graph to map your project's true architecture. With context engineering enhanced for codebases, small or large, it understands how everything connects, just like a professional developer would.
● It pairs with you in real-time:
Direct Qoder through natural conversation - it executes across multiple files, shows you every change, and waits for your review. This iterative flow keeps you in control while accelerating execution. True pair programming where you lead, Qoder builds.
● You focus on the "what", it handles the "how":
With Quest Mode, you can collaborate with the agent on writing specs in natural language, then delegate to the agent to execute, autonomously. Qoder plans, executes, and delivers verified code while you focus on the next big problem.
This all comes together in an IDE designed for real software development.
We're launching with 2,000 free credits during preview (first-come, first-served, then waitlist!) and would be thrilled to get your feedback on how we can help developers "Think Deeper, Build Better" in the AI era!

Comment highlights

Congrats on the launch! Might pause using Cursor for a bit and trial this out :)

I would love to try Qoder and compare it against other industry solutions I use. However, I only use Linux systems... Do you have any plans for a Linux version?

Love how Qoder’s persistent memory and code-graph approach reduces repetitive context-switching and makes collaboration feel frictionless — huge productivity win. 🙌🙌🙌

### Problem

What problem does this solve?

Right now, Qoder feels more like a stock VS Code with an AI extension bolted on, rather than a truly integrated and thoughtfully designed IDE.

Competitors like Cursor and Trae are putting significant effort into improving the overall IDE experience itself, not just the AI features. Trae, in particular, even won a design award for its UI. In contrast, Qoder offers almost no enhancements to the core editor experience beyond its AI capabilities.

This creates real friction and efficiency problems, especially for professional developers who rely on a fast, fluid workflow. For example, essential keyboard shortcuts are missing. There's no `Cmd + I` for a quick inline chat or `Cmd + N` to start a new chat session with the cursor automatically focused. The lack of these basic workflow shortcuts is a constant interruption for power users.

### Solution

How should it work?

I would love to see the Qoder team invest more in two key areas:

1. A Unique and Polished UI/UX: Move beyond the default VS Code look. Give Qoder its own signature design language that is both beautiful and functional. A great design is a feature in itself and makes developers actually enjoy using the tool all day.

2. Seamless Keyboard-First Workflows: The AI interactions need to be frictionless. This means robust shortcut support is non-negotiable for professional users. At a minimum, please implement:

* `Cmd + I`: To instantly bring up an AI chat inline, without ever leaving the keyboard.

* `Cmd + N`: In the chat panel, this should create a new conversation and, critically, auto-focus the input field so I can just start typing.

### Use Case

When would you use this?

This would impact my entire daily coding workflow:

* When I'm stuck on a piece of code, I want to hit `Cmd + I`, ask my question, and get back to coding. My hands shouldn't have to leave the keyboard.

* When I need to start a fresh train of thought with the AI, I want to hit `Cmd + N` and just go, without breaking my flow by clicking around.

* Honestly, I would be much happier to spend my entire workday in Qoder if it had a more polished and unique interface. If it had these things, I would absolutely love this product.

### Priority

🟡 Medium - Important improvement

While this isn't a blocking bug, it's a critical issue that directly impacts whether Qoder can become a primary, go-to tool for serious developers. For professionals, workflow efficiency and overall polish are deciding factors when choosing an IDE over its competitors.

### Additional Info

(Optional: screenshots, examples, links)

For inspiration, here are some competitors who are getting this right:

* Cursor: Does a great job of making the AI feel seamlessly integrated.

* Trae: Its success proves there is a strong demand in the developer community for a beautiful and highly functional editor.

I'm a Java developer — can you tell me more about Java language support in Qoder? Things like JDK integration, annotation processing, and debugging would be great to know.

Qoder goes beyond snippets to grasp entire software architecture and enables natural chat for multi-file edits or AI task delegation, revolutionizing how AI supports software development.

Nice IDE! Love the idea of quest mode. So if I comprehend correctly, in the quest mode developer can customize agent for specific tasks?

Great Experience. Qoder will break the balance. Will recommend to anyone to try!

i like spec-driven agent and repo wiki, it's very useful for the complex software engineering!

quest mode is like "deep research" in ai coding. started delegating complex tasks to it in qoder

@sandy_liusy This is a product I've been waiting for for a long time. You guys are awesome! This looks like a product that will significantly improve my productivity. If the price is right, I'll definitely be a big fan.🎉btw,congrats.

Is it a better replacement for Cursor? I will try this to see if it is suitable for me.

Qoder gives AI the full context of your codebase, dependencies, patterns, and history. Chat for multi-file edits or hand off refactors to AI, turning hidden complexity into transparent collaboration

This is impressive — I’ve always struggled with AI tools that only see single files.

Qoder’s approach of understanding patterns and history feels like the missing piece.

Wishing you lots of traction and excited to follow your journey!
