Pythos
Free AI math & physics tutoring that checks its work
Pythos is a free AI mathematics and physics tutor built for students. It combines AI-guided tutoring with deterministic verification to check the reasoning behind its answers—not just the final result. Students can solve problems, check their work, graph functions, convert units, and explore concepts from algebra through calculus and physics. Built by a student developer with a focus on making AI tutoring more accurate, transparent, and honest.
I built Pythos because I got tired of seeing students pay for AI tutoring only to get confidently wrong answers. As a student myself, I wanted to build something free that students could actually use without worrying about whether the AI made something up. Pythos uses AI to teach, but deterministic tools to verify the math and catch mistakes. I'm still actively trying to break it, because if students are going to trust it, it needs to earn that trust.
