Hey Product Hunt 👋 I’m Elias, and I built PUSHTYPE in Los Angeles.
I built it for myself. I speak way better than I type, but I didn’t want to pay a monthly subscription for a dictation app. So I made my own, and it runs locally on my Mac, so there are no privacy concerns. Then, while dictating, I noticed I say “like” way too often, so I built a fix for that too. I figured I’m not the only one.
PUSHTYPE puts two tools in one Mac app:
🎙️ Talk: hold a key, speak, let go. Your words land wherever you were typing, with the “um”s gone and numbers written properly. Text is on screen 0.12 s after you let go.
⌨️ TYPE: start typing, and the rest of your sentence appears in gray at your cursor. Tab takes a word; one key takes it all. Works in Mail, Messages, Notes, Safari, Chrome, and Claude Code in Terminal.
🧠 One brain for both. A dictation app only hears your voice; an autocomplete app only sees your keyboard. PUSHTYPE learns from both, so suggestions start to sound like you. Teach it a name once, and Talk spells it right while TYPE completes it. Learning is off until you turn it on; it’s encrypted on your Mac, and Delete All erases it.
🔒 Everything runs on your Mac. Your words never leave it, so privacy isn’t a worry, and no data center has to spin up every time you say a sentence. No cloud, no account, and it works with Wi-Fi off after a one-time model download. Your Mac’s chip was sitting there anyway.
🌴 California mode takes the “like” out of your sentences and keeps the ones you mean (“I like it” stays). There’s also a teleprompter that follows your voice and stays out of screen recordings.
