Hi all, I'm Ben.
My friend Paul spent 20 years building up a plumbing business. In recent years, he became much busier and employed more people, and as much as he was great with a spreadsheet, his desk was still covered in paperwork.
I'm a software engineer, so he asked whether anything existed that would help. I looked, and everything I found was either US/Australia based and didn't handle UK VAT or CIS properly, or was built for companies big enough to have someone on admin full time. So I built him something. That was 2023, and it turned into ProWorks.
It does quoting, scheduling, time tracking and invoicing, and everything in between. Paul is still the person I check features with, along with the electricians, builders and contractors who've come on since.
It's live, with several UK trades businesses (plumbers, electricians, property maintenance, etc.) using it. UK-hosted, 30-day free trial, no contract.
Happy to answer anything. And if you've built for an audience that doesn't use software much by choice, tell me what you learned; I think that's the biggest difference from previous projects I've worked on.
