Hi Product Hunt 👋
I'm İsmail, I built PromPilot because I kept doing the same thing at work: someone asks "can we see error rate per service for the last hour?", and I open Grafana, hunt through metric names, write the PromQL, fix the labels, pick the unit, tweak the legend. Twenty minutes for one panel.
PromPilot turns that into a sentence. It connects to your Prometheus, builds a searchable catalog of your metrics, and when you describe a chart it searches the catalog, writes the PromQL, runs it against your data to check it actually returns something, and adds the panel. When you're happy, you export the dashboard as Grafana JSON.
A few things I cared about:
- Self-hosted, single Docker image, MIT. Your metrics never leave your network.
- Bring your own model. Works with OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Azure, or a local model on Ollama/vLLM. No account with me, no SaaS.
- You can teach it your system. Notes and instructions ("job=api-canary is canary traffic", "always use p99 for latency") go into a knowledge base the assistant searches.
- Voice. Talk to it if you want; the browser's speech API works out of the box.
It's early (v0.3). Multi-dashboard, projects for several Prometheus instances, and auth are in; heatmaps, Grafana import, and a proper model benchmark are next.
