Run solo tower and radar shifts at real US airports. Pilots speak, follow your clearances and make readback mistakes. A 25-assignment career takes you from your first clearance to checkrides, and every shift ends in a graded debrief. KSAN is free, PTT coming soon.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm the student and solo developer behind ProjectATC.

I built it because ATC practice has a scheduling problem. On the networks you need other people online; offline tools mostly stop at static phraseology drills. I wanted repetitions I could run alone.

ProjectATC is a browser simulator where you play Clearance, Ground, Tower, Departure or Approach. You type or click your instructions, pilots answer, follow what you actually cleared them to do, and sometimes read back wrong things, which you are expected to catch. Airport surfaces come from OpenStreetMap geometry, SIDs from published FAA CIFP data, and weather from live METARs, so in case of really bad weather you'll see storm cells on the scope and you will receive deviation requests from pilots.

The part I'm most happy with is the Controller Career: 25 fixed assignments across six chapters, from issuing your first clearance at San Diego to operational checkrides, each with required goals, optional Distinction targets and a debrief that shows exactly which operational and phraseology errors cost you points.

San Diego and all five positions are free; no card, no time limit, including the first five career missions. Pro is a one-time $14.99 purchase (FOUNDING20 → $11.99 through August 31) that opens nine more airports, the rest of the career, repeatable scenarios, operational events and cloud history. No subscription, ever. It will help me fund my PPL for my first step in aviation:)

To be clear about what this is not: it's an independent practice simulator, not certified training, and not affiliated with VATSIM, IVAO or the FAA. It's a real simulation engine. Traffic, clearances, taxi routing, conflicts and scoring are covered by 529 automated engine tests, but it's still a solo project and there are rough edges.

What I'd genuinely like from you: open San Diego, work one shift, and tell me the first thing that breaks immersion. Controllers, trainees and flight simmers especially, I'll be here answering all day.

Thanks
