I built PrivatePDF because I got tired of the way most online PDF tools work.
You upload your document, a contract, a medical report, a tax return, to some server you know nothing about. Who stores it? For how long? Under which jurisdiction? Most tools don't answer those questions clearly.
And the world isn't making this easier. We're living in a time where data privacy is eroding in ways that felt unthinkable a few years ago. Governments are changing. Regulations are shifting. Hacks happen every week. The idea that your private documents pass through a third-party server, even briefly, is a risk that simply doesn't need to exist.
So I built a tool that removes that risk entirely.
PrivatePDF runs 100% in your browser. Your files never leave your device. There's no server, no account, no upload. You can merge PDFs, reorder pages, rotate and delete them, and everything happens locally, powered by open-source libraries that any developer can inspect.
And because it's a single HTML file, there's nothing to install. It works on desktop, tablet and phone.
Privacy shouldn't be a premium feature. It should be the default. That's what I tried to build here.

Who hunted PrivatePDF?
PrivatePDF was hunted by Ton Snoei. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
