As a developer, I noticed how modern retail environments are explicitly engineered to eliminate spending friction. With Apple Pay and one-click checkouts, digital currency feels entirely abstract. Our brains get hit by a dopamine spike, and we buy things we don’t actually need.
I wanted to build a psychological "speed bump" to break this consumer autopilot.
Price of Time does one simple thing: it forces you to look past the marketing trance and see prices in your most valuable, non-renewable asset — your life energy.
How it works:
1. You input your Real Hourly Wage just once (clean income minus fixed survival costs like rent).
2. Point your phone’s camera at any price tag.
3. The app instantly translates the cost into actual working hours or days.
4. If the dopamine rush is still there, you push it to a cooling-off wishlist to let the impulse fade.
Strict Privacy First:
Tools meant for financial mindfulness shouldn't exploit the user. Price of Time is 100% free, entirely ad-free, operates completely offline, and features zero data tracking. Your financial reality stays exclusively on your own device.
