MDifying turns PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and scans into clean Markdown for ChatGPT, Claude, Obsidian and Notion. The conversion runs inside your browser tab. Not "we delete it after an hour" — the file is never sent anywhere, and the site's Content-Security-Policy blocks it from being sent even if we wanted to. Tables come out as tables. Headings come out as headings. Scans go through OCR on your own machine. Up to twenty files at once. Free, no account, nothing to install.
I built this because every converter I tried wanted the document uploaded, and the documents I wanted to convert were exactly the ones I did not want to upload.
The hard part was never the parsing — it was that a PDF has no idea what a table or a paragraph is, only glyphs at coordinates. Most of the code is geometry: finding tables by column alignment, dropping running headers, reading two-column pages down each column instead of straight across.
Happy to answer anything about the internals. It is all in the browser, so you can watch the network tab and confirm nothing leaves.
