PowerDesk is a modern, keyboard-first file manager for Windows built with Electron, React, and TypeScript. It replaces Windows Explorer with a VSCode-inspired interface featuring tabs, dual-pane browsing, a powerful search engine, built-in tools, and a fully customizable UI.
I had way too much free time this summer, so I decided to see how far I could push AI agents. Three days later I had the first version of PowerDesk. Since then it's kind of snowballed into a real project. People started downloading it, opening issues, suggesting features, and I've been spending my free time polishing it and releasing updates. It's open source, it's definitely not perfect, and I'm still learning as I go, but it's been a fun experiment to see what one person with AI can build.
