I’m the founder of PortPix, and I’m super stoked to show you guys what I’ve been working on.
To be honest, the idea for PortPix came from a personal headache. I had to get a visa photo last minute and ended up spending $22 and two hours of my life at a local pharmacy—only for the photo to look like it was taken in the 90s.
I knew there had to be a better way to do this with AI. So, I built a tool where you can just lean against a wall at home, snap a selfie, and let the AI do the heavy lifting. It handles all the annoying biometric stuff—like the exact millimeter head size and background colors—for over 50 countries.
It was a lot harder to build than I expected! We had to code in the specific rules for everywhere from the US to the Schengen area to make sure everything is 100% government-compliant.
One thing I’m really proud of is that you can see a live preview of your processed photo before you pay anything. No more "guessing" if it worked.
