I'm Donovan, co-founder and CEO of Portfolio.
We started building this because we kept seeing the same problem: people have real money tied up in things that live outside their bank account — Pokémon cards, sneakers, watches, cars, etc. There was no good way to actually track what any of it was worth or prove it was real.
We started with trading card collectors because it's the clearest version of the problem: a $500 card and a $5 card can look identical in a binder, and most "portfolio" tools just ignore that whole category of wealth. So we built Portfolio to be the place where you can log an asset, verify it's the real thing (we hash a photo of it so there's a tamper-proof record), and track its value alongside everything else you own. Think of it as the Carfax for the stuff you actually collect.
We just launched on the App Store and are gathering feedback from real users to help shape where we take it next. Collectors are already using it to see all their tangible assets cards, sneakers, watches — right alongside their traditional ones: bank accounts, crypto, investments, properties, vehicles, and more.
