Hunted byWilliam Rodriguez JimenezWilliam Rodriguez Jimenez

PoolFlex turns pool pumps, heaters, and chillers into a paid grid flexibility resource — a category almost untouched compared to smart thermostats and EV chargers. Pool equipment pulls comparable power and is far more flexible on timing (a pool can't really be "over-filtered"). We handle enrollment and utility program participation so pool owners get paid automatically — no new hardware for most connected pumps, no change to water quality. Building toward 2027 launch. I am an MIT-trained energy nerd. I was home and trying to get our energy consumption as close to zero as possible. I turned off the clothes dryer, all the lights, and air conditioning and was still seeing a large power draw of 10 kW. I walked outside and heard a loud hum from the pool. As I approached the pump, I saw the off button and turned it off. And bam, an 8 kilowatt drop! No one was in the pool and I knew the pumping could happen at another time. With the price you and I pay for our electricity increasing and outpacing inflation, I thought that there should be a way for us to sell the flexibility our energy assets back to the grid. So I created PoolFlex, so we could do exactly that! The plan is to start with pool pumps and then expand into home batteries, air conditioning, and other flexible energy assets. The vision is to make energy more affordable and reliable for the individual and for the grid as a whole.

Would be great to see what "states" and the "providers" this will actually work in. I went to the site and it looks to only be a wait list. When will the launch happen?
