Hi Product Hunt, I'm Maxim, one of the two people behind Polytranslator.
It began as a school project for a machine learning class: the first-ever Coptic translator. People kept asking for languages the big translators don't cover, so we kept adding them. Today it handles 475 languages, about 750,000 people use it each month, and it has translated more than 12 million sentences.
What you can do with it:
• Translate text in 475 languages, including Ancient Greek, Latin, Coptic, Old English, Sanskrit, Akkadian cuneiform, Egyptian hieroglyphs, Old Norse and Aramaic, plus constructed languages like Klingon and Elvish
• Turn on Explain for a word-by-word breakdown of grammar and meaning
• Hear the pronunciation and see the romanization of non-Latin scripts
• Translate documents: PDFs (scanned ones too), Word, PowerPoint, Excel, EPUB and photos come back as the same file, translated, with tables, columns and headers where they were
• Translate long documents and whole books with consistent terminology from start to finish
• Learn: reading courses in Ancient Greek, Latin, Old English, Sanskrit, Arabic, Old French, Old Norse and Shakespearean English
• Build on it: a document translation API with webhooks, and an MCP server for AI assistants
