I built Podium after noticing a gap: the speaking tools for children are either pronunciation drills or speech therapy, and almost all of them stop at age 8. Nothing was helping a 12-year-old prepare for an inter-school debate except a human coach at ₹800 an hour.
The harder problem isn't fluency, it's substance. Anyone can count "um". What actually makes a child a better speaker is whether they gave a concrete example instead of a generality, backed a claim with a reason, and stayed with one idea long enough to say something. So Podium scores seven dimensions of what was said, alongside the delivery.
Three decisions I'd defend:
No scores for children. A kid who sees 43/100 stops speaking. They get one strength and one thing to try. The dashboard is for you.
One correction, never a list. Five notes and a child fixes none. There's a fixed priority order — ran out of content, then rushing, then fillers, then thin development — and only the top one surfaces.
Voice is judged per child. A 7-year-old is naturally higher and quieter. Their first three speeches become their own baseline; until then those metrics say "calibrating" and generate no feedback at all.
Delivery numbers come from the waveform and word timings, never from a language model, so the same recording always gives the same result. Audio is deleted from the server the moment it's processed — the playback copy lives in your browser.
It's brand new and I'd genuinely like it torn apart, especially by parents of 9–14 year olds. What would make your child come back to it a second time?
