What does "pochemu" mean?
"Pochemu" (почему) is simply Russian for "why". It is the word this whole project is named after and the first one we ever tracked: 54,000+ instances since December 2024. Commenters use it both earnestly, when official messaging stops matching what they can see with their own eyes, and sarcastically, as a running dig at the war's official narrative.
A steady hum, not a spike word
Of every word tracked here, "pochemu" is the least reactive: on its single busiest day it was used only 3.7x more than on a typical day, versus 14.9x for nuclear talk. That reads less like an event-driven reaction and more like a constant, low-level background noise of confusion that never fully goes away.
