Pluely 1.1
Invisible AI overlay that transcribes calls and answers live
Pluely is a native desktop overlay for macOS, Windows and Linux that stays invisible on screen shares and recordings. It listens to your call, transcribes it live with speaker labels, and drafts an answer the moment a question is asked. Ask mode takes a typed question, a screenshot or a file. New in 1.1: meeting detection, a transcription-only mode, an automatic recap with decisions and action items, and Pro purchase inside the app. Everything is stored on your computer. Free with your own key.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Srikanth, and I build Pluely on my own.
A year ago I made a small overlay for myself: it listened to the call I was on, kept a live transcript, and when someone asked me something it drafted an answer I could glance at. I put it online and people kept using it. Today it has 53,000 downloads, over 5,000 hours of meetings transcribed and over 10 billion tokens generated, with no ads and no funding. Version 1 this summer was a full rewrite. 1.1 is what happened after ten thousand people used it for real.
What it does: it sits over your call on macOS, Windows or Linux, transcribes mic and system audio live with speaker labels, and drafts a reply the moment a question comes up. The overlay never takes focus from the app you are sharing and never shows up in a screen share or recording. Ask mode takes a typed question, a screenshot, a selected region of the screen, or a file of any kind.
New in 1.1:
- Meeting detection: the overlay comes forward when a call starts in Zoom, Meet, Teams or FaceTime
- Transcription-only mode for clean, speaker-labeled notes with no AI suggestions
- Automatic recap with decisions and action items when the meeting ends
- Buy Pro inside the app and the license activates by itself
- Summaries in seconds on a fast model, with long transcripts handled whole
- Stealth finished: Hide app icon, Always on top and Meeting detection switch on together with every Pro license
- A long list of Windows, macOS and Linux fixes, most of them from your GitHub reports
On privacy: transcripts, chats and files live in a local database on your machine and API keys stay in your OS keychain. On the free plan nothing touches my servers at all.
It is free with your own API key or a CLI you already have (Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex, Ollama). Pro from $15 a month adds hosted models and live transcription with nothing to configure. Dev Pro is a one-time $120 if you bring your own keys.
One thing I would rather say first: Pluely started under GPL-3 and I closed the source after v1, after copies were sold under other names with the license stripped. The repo stays public for releases and issues.
I will be here all day. Tell me what breaks, what is missing and what you would want next. Thank you for looking.
