wanted to start world building and writing my own fantasy story, but I couldn't find a tool that felt right. Some were too expensive, others too complicated, and a lot of them felt dated. So I started building Plotscribe — I wanted a modern, approachable place to develop my world and actually write the story that takes place in it.
Writing a novel is hard enough without fighting your tools. I wanted a cleaner, more intuitive interface — something that made it easy to move between world building, organizing ideas, and writing, instead of feeling like three separate jobs. Keeping writers in control of their own work mattered just as much.
The approach changed as I used it myself. I started with a simple idea: build a basic writing app. But once I was actually using it for my own story, I realized the editor was only part of what I needed — characters, places, lore, and the manuscript all had to work together. That shifted the whole focus, from a standalone editor to a connected space for writing and world building. The real challenge became figuring out what genuinely helped the writing process, without letting the app get complicated in the process.
