Most online HEIC converters force you to upload personal photos to third-party servers—a huge privacy risk. Pixheic fundamentally changes that. Powered by client-side WebAssembly, it converts iPhone HEIC photos to high-res JPGs 100% locally in your browser. ⚡ Zero cloud uploads or data harvesting 🔒 Enterprise-grade privacy for sensitive files 🚀 Instant batch processing with zero file size limits 🆓 Free, browser-based, and no account required. Your files never leave your device.
Hey Product Hunt community! 👋
Why does converting an image file still feel like giving away your personal data?
That’s the exact question that kicked off Pixheic. A few months ago, while trying to upload client assets and personal photos to platforms that outright reject Apple’s default .heic format (looking at you, web forms, real estate MLS portals, and design tools), I relied on free online converters.
Then it hit me: every single time, I was uploading uncompressed, highly personal photos—containing metadata like GPS coordinates—to random cloud servers run by anonymous ad-tech networks.
I knew there had to be a better, privacy-first way.
The Engineering Shift: Bringing the Engine to the Browser
Instead of building another standard backend server to receive and re-render images, we engineered Pixheic around client-side WebAssembly (Wasm).
By executing the conversion library natively inside your browser instance, your files never leave your device.
- Zero Cloud Latency: Fast conversions without waiting for bandwidth-heavy uploads.
- True Privacy: Complete peace of mind for sensitive documents, family photos, or proprietary client work.
- No Artificial Paywalls: Unlimited conversions with batch export options and zero registration friction.
Where we’re taking this next:
We are continually optimizing the Wasm engine for faster multi-file processing and expanding programmatic integrations to fix image compatibility errors across e-commerce ecosystems, real estate platforms, and content tools.
I’d love to hear from you:
How often do you hit the HEIC format wall in your daily workflow? What additional browser-native file utilities would make your life easier?
Looking forward to your thoughts, feedback, and feature requests!

Who hunted PixHeic?
PixHeic was hunted by Jonathan. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
