The problem that drove me to build this: Every image-to-3D AI I tried had the same fatal flaw — they hallucinate. You upload a gorgeous concept with intricate details,
and the 3D output comes back with generic shapes, warped proportions, and blurred textures. The front might look okay, but flip it around and the back is a fever dream.
That's because most 3D generators work in "canonical space" — they synthesize a generic pose and loosely inject image cues via attention. The correspondence between your
2D pixels and the 3D output is lost.
What Pixal 3D does differently: We built a pixel back-projection conditioning scheme. Instead of guessing, we explicitly lift multi-scale 2D image features directly into
a 3D feature volume — creating unambiguous pixel-to-3D correspondence. The result is reconstruction-level fidelity. The 3D output actually matches your input image, down
to the fine details. This research was accepted to SIGGRAPH 2026, and the code is fully open source (GitHub: TencentARC/Pixal3D, weights on Hugging Face).
