Pix Alarm turns any photo or GIF into a full-screen alarm. Pick a shot from your gallery, Google Photos or Drive, write a message on it, choose a clock face, and add a math or retype challenge so you actually get up. Eight dark themes, seven clock faces, per-alarm settings, sleep stats and wake-up streaks. Your photo stays on screen for thirty seconds after you dismiss it. No ads, no account, nothing leaves the phone. Android only: the lock screen photo is the product, and iOS forbids it.

Top comment

I first posted Pix Alarm here on 17 December 2018. It got five upvotes and one comment, and the tagline I wrote said: “Let’s start your day with Loved once Photo”. I had not even proofread it. The idea underneath was small, though. My alarm clock was the ugliest screen I looked at every single day, so I built one that shows my own photos instead - full screen, on the lock screen, before anything else. Then I just kept going. Sixty-five versions later, still on my own, mostly at night. Where it is now: - Any photo or GIF as the alarm background, from your gallery, Google Photos or Drive - A wake-up message you write and style yourself, per alarm - Dismiss challenges - math, retype, odd one out - in three difficulties - Eight dark themes, seven clock faces, and small companions that greet you - Sleep stats and wake-up streaks, kept on your phone - Photo After Dismiss: your photo stays thirty seconds after you wake, with one-tap share - No ads, no account, nothing leaves the device The honest part: it is Android only, and it will stay that way. The whole product is a photograph taking over your lock screen, and iOS will not let an app do that. I would rather do one platform properly than half of two. Pro is free right now. Every feature, no trial, no card. I will start charging when the app has earned it - until then, I would rather have your feedback than your money. Two things I would love from you: tell me what feels wrong in the first five minutes, because that is where I am blind. And if you set an alarm tonight, come back tomorrow and tell me whether it actually woke you. - Prabhakar
