Free and lightweight menubar app to follow World Cup 2026 match scores in real-time. Highly customizable, you can toggle on and off sections for ongoing matches and pre-match info.
Hey gang,
Dropping a project I've been working, a weekend before the FIFA World Cup 2026 started, managed to push the first version a few hours before the first match. Now a few matches in I've released ~20 updates, the app is at a place I thought I'd share.
A few features:
⚽️ Live updates on the ongoing match
⚽️ Events during the match: goals, red and yellow cards, etc
⚽️ Stats during the match: possession, corners, fouls, goal attempts, etc
⚽️ Pre-match info: Group statistics, stadium and location
⚽️ The popup window can be broken out of the menubar and set to be on top of all windows
⚽️ You can browse past and future matches
⚽️ Super low CPU usage (you can even turn off the team colors animation)
⚽️ Hide match scores in the menubar (if it's a spoiler for you)
⚽️ Desaturate flags in the menubar to be less distracting
If you have any ideas on a feature, let me know!
It looks great! I believe google already has this option of tracking matches on live. The features on your app looks really interesting. What made you decide to build this instead of using existing options?
This is a fun little project.
Ngl, when I first saw the name Pitchbar, my brain somehow went straight to pitch decks instead of football scores. I guess I’m a bit too deep in the startup bubble at this point... 🫠
But the actual idea makes a lot of sense. A lightweight menubar app for World Cup scores is exactly the kind of thing that can be useful without becoming another distracting full-screen app or browser tab. I especially like the spoiler-hide option and the ability to make flags less distracting. Small details, but they show you actually thought about how people might use it during work.
Curious if you plan to keep Pitchbar World Cup-only, or could it support other leagues/tournaments in the future too?
Wow, This tool is so interesting. Can you add live stream or reply link for each match?
