Ping Warden
Less Wi-Fi stutter in GeForce NOW and Mac cloud gaming
Mac Wi-Fi stutter or ping spikes in GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Moonlight or Parsec? Apple's AirDrop and Handoff radio (AWDL) can be one cause. Ping Warden keeps it paused while you play, from the menu bar or Control Center, and charts latency, jitter and history so you can compare on your own network. The dashboard is free. Protection is $15 once. AirDrop, AirPlay and Handoff pause while it is on. Intel and Apple silicon, macOS 13+, MIT-licensed source.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Oliver, the maker of Ping Warden.
Apple Wireless Direct Link (AWDL), used by AirDrop, AirPlay and Handoff, can contribute to Wi-Fi stutter during cloud gaming. macOS can turn it back on after a one-time Terminal command. Ping Warden keeps it paused while Ping Protection is on and shows latency, jitter and history so you can compare your own connection.
The tradeoff is explicit: AirDrop, AirPlay and Handoff pause while protection is active. Turn protection off or use the 10-minute pause when you need them. This addresses AWDL-related interruptions, not every source of lag.
The dashboard and diagnostics are free. Ping Protection is $15 once, with no subscription. The signed, notarized app supports Intel and Apple silicon on macOS 13 or later, and the source is MIT-licensed.
I'd welcome feedback on your Mac, streaming service and the connection problems you encounter.
