Hi Product Hunt. I'm Emils, and I built Pickachore, it was a chore to build, for two years, multiple iterations on design and features.
The problem it solves is small and I had it every day: I knew what needed doing around the flat, I'd stand there deciding which of eleven things to start with, and then I'd do none of them. A list of twelve chores is twelve decisions. One chore is not a decision.
So Pickachore does the deciding. You add chores once, with a category and a rough time, and every day you spin a wheel. It lands on one, and that's your chore for the day. Accept it and you get a timer and a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so it stays one glance away. Don't fancy it? Re-roll, and that chore comes off today's wheel and another takes its place.
Two things worth knowing:
- The re-roll allowance is small on purpose: two a day. If you could re-roll forever you'd spin until you found the easiest job and the wheel would be theatre. Pro removes the cap, and that is the only thing Pro does.
- Nothing leaves your phone. No account, no ads, no trackers. Chores live in a SQLite database on the device. The only thing that goes anywhere is app start timings, so I can tell if a release made it slower to open; the privacy policy spells that out.
Also in there: categories with icons and colours, swipe to finish or delete with a five-second undo, and stats (done, re-rolls, time, streak) over 7 days, 28 days or 6 months.
