👋 Hey Product Hunt, I'm Eldon Beix, a lifelong gearhead.
For decades I'd spot an interesting old vehicle half-buried in a barn, rusting in a field, tucked in the woods with no time to stop. I'd tell myself I'd come back later. When later came, I could picture the car perfectly. I just couldn't remember where I'd seen it.
So a year ago, with zero coding background, I decided to build the app I couldn't find. I used MIT App Inventor with an AI assistant (Claude) as my coding partner, no dev team, just persistence and an infinitely patient assistant.
PhotoLog captures images that are automatically GPS-tagged and time-stamped, along with typed or dictated notes added at the moment of capture, all within the app. The tag entered on your first image stays persistent until you close the session or change it, so every photo from a specific site, event, or day can be found in seconds with a tag or date search.
Images can be shared individually through any social app on your phone, or exported in bulk as a zipped set containing the raw images, an Excel document listing all relevant info, and a polished, searchable HTML field report.
Originally built for barn find hunters and classic car spotters, but just as useful for site, safety, or marine inspections, or any job or hobby requiring accurate, searchable photo documentation.

The persistent tag inheritance is genuinely clever, basically solves the headache of sorting dozens or hundreds of photos after the fact. Love that you can flip it off when you need to, too. Solid execution on a real workflow problem.
