Phone Rescue by VidThanks
Free video lock screen templates to recover lost phones
VidThanks Phone Rescue is a free web tool that turns your mobile lock screen into an empathy-driven recovery template. Easily create a personalized QR lock screen. How it works: 📱 Create your custom video template (no download). 🔍 When found, the finder scans and watches the owner show gratitude. 📍 You instantly get an email notification with the finder's details and your phone's current location. This tool is 100% free and proudly supports the Helmet Heroes Thailand Road Safety initiative.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm the maker behind VidThanks Phone Rescue.
I built this tool because traditional mobile lock screens are incredibly cold and unhelpful when a phone is lost. Most people just see a simple line of text (if anything at all) and don't feel a strong connection to the device's owner. I wanted to see if we could completely change the psychology of device recovery by bringing human empathy into the loop.
By letting you easily create a custom video lock screen custom QR template featuring a message from you, the finder instantly realizes they are helping a real person, not just looking at a piece of hardware. If they find it, they can securely drop in their contact details, and you’ll instantly get an email with their info and your phone’s live location.
Why we are launching today:
I just finished redesigning and testing the rescue screen interface, and I want to put it in front of the ultimate tech community to get real, unfiltered feedback.
Is the onboarding flow to create the template smooth?
Is the rescue screen clear enough for a random finder to understand what to do?
This tool is 100% free, requires no App Store downloads, and proudly supports the Helmet Heroes Thailand Road Safety initiative (featured in our footer) to help look out for communities and their safety.
I’ll be here all day answering questions. Please roast the design, try out the template creator, and let me know how I can make it better! 🚀
Cheers,
