Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Rene, the maker of Petomato.
Most Pomodoro timers are effective but a little… sterile. I'd start a session,
ignore the timer, and lose the thread. I wanted focus to feel rewarding —
something that makes you *want* to come back for the next session.
So I built Petomato: a tiny retro-LCD gadget that lives in your menu bar with a
pixel pet that hatches from an egg and grows as you complete focus sessions. Hit
your daily goal and it reaches full size. It turns "just one more Pomodoro" into
"keep my little buddy growing." 🍅🐾
A few things I'm proud of:
• 🎧 Real lo-fi tracks + ambient sounds (rain & thunder, ocean, café) — or point
it at your own music folder
• 🎨 Six skins (Game Boy, Midnight, Neon, Sunset…) that re-style the whole
gadget, with live preview
• ✅ Tasks with per-task time + one-tap start, stats & streaks
• 🧘 Strict-mode breaks + (on macOS) site blocking that yanks distracting tabs to
a blank page
• 🪟 Draggable mini widget, and it lives quietly in the tray
It's free, open source, no accounts, no ads, no trackers — macOS & Windows.
This started as a "make focus fun for myself" side project and snowballed. Would
