**What inspired you to build this?**
The trigger was watching a scouting team come back from the field with a stack of paper sheets, a few blurry WhatsApp photos, and no real way to connect any of it to a map, a trend, or a decision. The data existed — it just died the moment it left the field. Nobody was going to pay for a $500/month enterprise platform to fix that, so nothing changed.
**What problem were you trying to solve?**
The gap between what happens in the field and what actually gets acted on. Scouts were doing the hard work — walking blocks, checking traps, counting larvae — but the intelligence never made it back in a usable form. No GPS. No thresholds. No history. Just a paper sheet filed in a cabinet somewhere.
**How did your approach evolve?**
The first version was purely about capture — get the observation off paper and into a database. What I didn't expect was how much the analysis side would take over. Once the data started accumulating, the real value wasn't storage, it was pattern recognition: which fields are trending up, which traps are underperforming, where an outbreak is moving. That's what PestLook became. The field tool is the front door. The intelligence engine is the product.
