Hi Product Hunt! We are Jacq and Shruti, the founders of Perpetua. We started Perpetua after experiencing loss and watching our families struggle with all the administration that comes after someone dies.
Settling an estate involves a shocking amount of detective work, often hundreds of hours worth. Families sit at kitchen tables with shoeboxes full of papers, wait for mail to arrive, and call institutions one by one. What bank accounts were there? Which subscriptions are still being charged? Was there an insurance policy? A storage unit? A utility account that went completely paperless?
One estate attorney told us she always assumes something is missing in every estate she handles, and that they have no way to check.
We spent the next year talking to families, executors, attorneys, and financial advisors who kept reiterating that finding all the accounts is one of the most manual and painstaking parts of settling an estate.
Perpetua analyzes metadata to build that list for you. Most people estimate they have around 40 online accounts. Perpetua surfaces an average of 154. In a few minutes, we analyze email metadata to locate and surface the institutions, subscriptions, and services connected to that address.
We know that connecting to your email requires a lot of trust. We deliberately designed Perpetua to work with limited access, and our approach has been independently certified by Google’s cloud security assessors. The contents of your emails and attachments always remain private, and we only use the basic metadata needed to identify what may be relevant to you and your family. That constraint also means we may miss things we could find with broader access. We think that’s the right tradeoff, and we’d genuinely like to hear where you disagree.
