Hey Product Hunt, I built Pencil2Reality because of a moment every parent knows: your kid hands you a drawing — a cat with a square head, a dragon with five legs, a car that’s somehow also a spaceship — and says “can you make it real?” I wanted an honest answer to that question, so I built one. Under the hood it’s using gpt-image-1 to turn a photo of a child’s drawing into a genuinely different piece of art — photorealistic, cartoon, fantasy, comic-book, or built out of bricks, all from the exact same sketch. The fun part has been watching how differently kids react to each style; the same drawing can get a totally different reaction depending on whether it comes back as a photo or a brick-toy scene. A few things I cared about getting right: • Speed and simplicity. No canvas to learn, no prompt to write — take a photo, tap generate, done in under 30 seconds. • No friction to try it. 5 free credits, no credit card required, so a parent can actually see the magic before deciding to pay for anything. • Safety by design. No chat, no strangers, nothing to moderate beyond the drawing itself — just a drawing in, an image out. The hardest part of building this wasn’t the AI — it was resisting the urge to add features. Every version got simpler, not more complex, because the whole point is that a tired parent or an impatient 7-year-old should be able to use it without instructions.
