We're Sebastiaan and Arjan — a developer and a UX designer from Groningen, the Netherlands.
A few years ago we were organising football pools at our co-working space. When we went looking for a proper app to do it digitally, we couldn't find what we were after. Too boring, too ugly, too complicated. So we built it ourselves.
Penal launched just before Euro 2024 and ended up with nearly 10,000 players and a lot of happy pool managers. Now we're back for the World Cup 2026 — and we've added a ton of new features: doublers, bonus questions, a live leaderboard, in-pool chat, subpools and narrowcasting.
